STRUCTURED HABIT TRAINING, CHRIST-CENTERED LIVING, A SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY
The Valor School is a Christian co-school that seeks to support homeschooling families in growing the child in relationship with God, self, and others through training in habit and engaging with beauty in a feast of living ideas.
Valor classes meet on Tuesdays in the Western suburbs of Chicago to complement the work done in your homeschool through a rich curriculum presented according to the philosophy of Charlotte Mason.
Why Valor?
-
A True Partnership with Families
At Valor, we believe education flourishes when home and school work together. We walk alongside parents, honoring your role in shaping character and intellect—just as Charlotte Mason said, it is the home’s influence that most shapes a child’s future.
-
Habit Training for Character & Learning
Our carefully guided approach helps children cultivate life-shaping habits—attention, obedience, responsibility, and more. Short, focused lessons are designed to build these habits gently yet effectively, laying a foundation for lifelong growth.
-
A Feast of Living Ideas
Rather than rote drills, children engage with living books—rich literature that sparks curiosity and imagination. With narration, copywork, and dictation, our students absorb ideas meaningfully and write with clarity and confidence.
-
Nurturing the Whole Child
Education at Valor attends to the whole person—mind, body, and soul. Through nature study, fine arts, and community, our students develop a deep appreciation for beauty, wonder, and God’s creation.
-
Warm, Christ-Centered Community
Valor is a place where families, teachers, and students grow together—not just academically, but relationally and spiritually. We create a space of encouragement, shared values, and mutual support, weaving our Christian faith into every aspect of learning.
What Families Are Saying
“I love and am so grateful for Valor School because the teachers are amazing, the subject matter is rich and inspiring, and I’ve seen firsthand the beautiful fruit of good habits formed in my three children who have attended. It’s been a true gift to our family over the past 5 years.”
— Annie Ittersagen
“I was lucky enough to connect with Valor at the very beginning of my homeschooling journey, and the content and structure are exactly what our family has needed to guide us these past 5 years. The thoughtfully crafted curriculum aligns perfectly with what we value at home, and the habit training in a classroom setting is invaluable. I love being able to drop my children off at a place where I know they are being formed not just academically, but also in their character!”
— Emily Terrell
“Valor has meant so much to our family as we have watched our children grow in knowledge and understanding of Gods Word and the world he created. Over the years they have also grown in the habits of attention and awareness thanks in great part to the atmosphere and intention of Valor and the teachers there. We’re thankful for the community Valor has given us and for the thought provoking material and model that has brought a feast of ideas and truths into our home.”
— Lauren Foster
“Valor provides a rich feast of content that engages our children’s minds and feeds their souls. I have seen firsthand the children come alive through thoughtful observation and discussion. Subjects such as composer and artist study are particularly valuable supplements to the subjects I cover daily at home.”
— Leslie Weinzettel
